Following the joining of champion mixed doubles team
Chau Hoi Wah and
Lee Chun Hei, Thai No.1 men’s singles player and four-time Olympian
Boonsak Ponsana, on 15th January, will now become a VICTOR endorser.
Established in 1968, VICTOR is an internationally renowned badminton equipment manufacturer and recently launched
an all-star 2015 “READY TO WIN” campaign. VICTOR is now also the exclusive partner of the governing body in badminton in Asia—the Badminton Asia Confederation (BAC).
Currently ranked number 23 in the men’s singles world rankings,
Ponsana has always been a leading figure in Thai badminton and equaled his high ranking of number 4 this time around just last year, but started dropping his points during the second half of 2014 due to an ankle injury.
Working hard on his fitness in the off-season,
Ponsana said the ankle is recovering well and that he is eager to go back on court to get prepared for the 2016 Olympic Games. He has been bearing the Thai flag in the quadrennial event since he was just 18 in year 2000, and the Rio Olympics 2016 would mark an impressive fifth appearance for the Thai “Superman”.
“I feel very honored and happy to be joining Team VICTOR and to help them tell their story globally,” said
Ponsana, who will be the biggest name ever from Thailand in brand history. “I had a little injury issue in the middle of last year but I’m back healthy. I can’t wait for the new season to start and I’m confident I’ll be able to play my best badminton again with the amazing help of VICTOR, and to achieve even more on the road to my fifth Olympics.”
Ponsana broke onto the badminton scene in 2004 when he made the semifinals in the Athens Olympics and won his first career title in his home country. Now 32, Ponsana has chalked up some famous wins over the likes of Lin Dan, Lee Chong Wei, Peter Gade, and Taufik Hidayat.
