Player of the week
Son Wan Ho and his final opponent Chen Long have made quite a rivalry in 2014, meeting for the fifth time this week in Kowloon.
Son, with his tactically thought-out game that exposes the flaw of his opposite through long rallies, broke down the World Champion twice when it mattered, brining a Team gold for Korea at the Asian Games and now a Superseries win in two years.
Son Wan Ho has beaten World Champion Chen Long twice this year.
Battle of the week
Nozomi Okuhara, who had fought to come back from career-threatening knee injury twice, made a surprise finalist and first appearance in a Superseries finale following her 21-13, 21-9 demolition of reigning World Champion Carolina Marin in the semifinals.
VICTOR STAR of the week: Tai Tzu Ying
Tai was at the eighth place on the BWF Superseries Standings and needed a good run in this last Superseries tournament on the calendar to grab a spot in the year-end 8-player championship, and now, with the 42-minute final victory over Japanese Nozomi Okuhara, she will be making her second Finals appearance in a row. She finished as the runner-up last year.
Tai Tzu Ying will be making her second Superseries Finals appearance in Dubai next month.
