Chou’s incredible winning streak lately, in which saw the 24-year-old Taiwanese claim his first Superseries title in Paris, three-peat at Bitburger Open, and surge up the rankings to a career high No.8, stopped at 14 matches. His 15th consecutive match win was finally snatched by Chinese legend Lin Dan this week in the China Open semifinals.
Player of the week
Former World No.2 Saina Nehwal of India withstood the challenges of some of the most promising youngsters in the game, including final victory over the youngest Superseries winner Akane Yamaguchi, to clinch her second Superseries win in 2014.
Battle of the week
Men’s Doubles runner-up Chai Biao/Hong Wei survived an intensely fought quarterfinal match against Hirokatsu Hashimoto/Noriyasu Hirata in dramatic fashion. They wasted 5 match points of their own at 21-15 20-18 and 21-20, 22-21, 23-22 to go into a decider, and had to trade match points before finally closing out 21-15, 23-25, 26-24 in 72 minutes.

Yoo Yeon Seong, who is the No.1 men’s doubles player with
Lee Yong Dae but needed to come through the qualifying rounds to earn their main draw berth in the mixed doubles with his partner
