From Odense to Paris, Team VICTOR’s fan favorites Lee Yong Dae/Yoo Yeon Seong and Ko Sung Hyun/Kim Ha Na have both come unbeaten in ten matches, winning in the back-to-back European Superseries tournaments.

On Sunday’s French Open finals, Lee and Yoo ended the hopes of Danish duo Conrad-Petersen/Pieler Kolding 14 and 19, while Ko and Kim avenged their loss in the final at Thailand Open G.P. Gold just earlier in the month to beat Indonesia’s Jordan/Susanto 21-10, 15-21, 21-19.

 

 

The fortnight has seen lots of history made. Lee and Yoo become the only men’s doubles pairing ever to win four consecutive Superseries events in one season. Lee Yong Dae, partnering with Jung Jae Sung, was also the first player in any discipline to win in four consecutive Superseries tournaments during 2009 and 2010, but this is the first time in men’s doubles that the feat is achieved in a single season. (On two other occasions, China’s Olympic Champs Yu/Wang in women’s doubles and Zhang/Zhao in mixed doubles have set the record four wins in one Superseries season in their respective fields.) For Ko and Kim, they have become only the first mixed doubles team from Korea to triumph in back-to-back Superseries events, and this is their third title in 2015.

 

 

 

On other notes, Taiwan’s Tai Tzu Ying was in the French semifinals after taking her first victory over former world no.1 Li Xuerui, in their eleventh meeting. Hong Kong’s young talent Ng Ka Long is set to break his high ranking of #27 after making his first Superseries quarterfinal appearance this year.
