In the men’ singles world Top 10, top ranked Lee Chong Wei of Malaysia is a massive 16000 points ahead of the player ranked second, China’s Chen Long. The player ranked 5 to 10 (Jan O JORGENSEN,Tien Minh NGUYEN,Tommy SUGIARTO,Boonsak PONSANA,WANG Zhengming,Marc ZWIEBLER ) all have between 50,000 and 60,000 points, showing how fierce the competition between them is. The performance of these players at the Denmark Open and France Open in October will have a direct effect on their world ranking,

Apart from top ranked Li Xue Rui, the women’s singles player who is the focus of attention at present is young Intanon of Thailand. Just 18, she took the title at the Badminton World Championships in August, a win that sent her up to second in the world rankings. Many fans predict that, with her form continuing to be excellent this year, it is only a matter of time before she overtakes Li Xue Rui to be crowned world No.1.

Chinese Taipei’s men’s doubles pair Lee Sheng Mu/Tsai China Hsin are ranked 10th in the world and won the gold at the Tianjin East Asian Games recently. At present, there is only a small 115 point difference between them and the pair ranked 9th, China’s Cai Yun/Fu Hai Feng.

The women’s doubles is still dominated by China’s Wang Xiao Li/Yu Yang, the pair enjoying a huge almost 20,000 lead over second ranked pair China’s Ma Jin/Tang Jin Hua. In fact, even if Ma/Tang win three Super Series tournaments in a row, they still might not be able to overtake Wang/Yu.
 
Three pairs who are Victor stars are currently in the Top 10 in the women’s doubles world rankings: Kim Ha Na/ Jung Kyung Eun rank 5th, Eom Hye Won/Jang Ye Na are 6th, and newcomers Lee So Hee/ Shin Seung Chan are 10th.

Three pairs are close together in the top three spots in the mixed doubles rankings, China’s Zhang Nan/Zhao Yun Lei in top spot, their compatriots Xu Chen/Ma Jin in 2nd, and “Indonesian Lightning” Tontowi/Liliyana ranked third, the three pairs separated by less than 3000 points.

Tontowi/Liliyana took a rest in September after winning the mixed doubles title at the Badminton World Championships and did not take part in any tournament higher than BWF Level 2. They are seeded three at this week’s Denmark Open and will go all out to claim their fifth title of the year.
